Emilio involved in another car crash

SAN ANTONIO (UPI) -- Tejano recording artist Emilio Navaira, who was thrown through the windshield of his tour bus last spring, has been involved in another car crash.

The 46-year-old singer, who was nominated for a Latin Grammy Award earlier this month, underwent two operations on his brain and surgery on his right lung after he crashed his tour bus in Houston in March. Police said he had a blood-alcohol content of more than twice the legal limit at the time of the accident and didn't have the license required to legally drive the vehicle. He had two other drunken driving arrests on his record at the time of the March crash, the San Antonio Express-News reported.

University Hospital officials told the Express-News Navaira was in stable condition late Wednesday after he was hospitalized following a rush-hour collision.

A witness who asked not to be identified told the newspaper Navaira's wife, Maria, appeared to be driving a Volvo in San Antonio when it was struck by a pickup truck. Emilio Navaira was a passenger in the vehicle, the witness said.

The Express-News said the singer's representatives couldn't immediately be reached for comment regarding this latest incident.
