MEMPHIS (UPI) -- Morgan Freeman's publicist says the actor is walking
around after undergoing surgery to repair injuries sustained in a
weekend car crash in Mississippi.
The 71-year-old Oscar winner has starred in dozens of films including,
"The Dark Knight," "The Bucket List," "Evan Almighty," "Million Dollar
Baby," "The Shawshank Redemption" and "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves."
He and a passenger were pulled from their vehicle by rescue workers
who used the jaws of life after the car accident Sunday night.
Freeman, who was airlifted to a Memphis hospital, reportedly sustained
a broken arm and elbow, as well as an injured shoulder. His passenger
was treated for injuries and was released from a hospital.
"Morgan is doing well after his surgery last night to reconnect nerves
and repair damage in his left arm and hand," Freeman's representative,
Donna Lee, said in a statement issued to People magazine Tuesday. "The
surgery last night lasted 4 1/2 hours. He's visiting with family this
morning. As of this morning he's up and walking around and looking
forward to his release in a few days."
