NEW YORK (UPI) -- "August: Osage County" won the prize for best play
at the 62nd annual Tony Awards show in New York Sunday.
"Writing is better than acting," said playwright Tracy Letts upon
taking the stage to receive his Tony. "You get to use your words. You
don't have to be there eight times a week and I can guarantee this
moment beats the hell out of auditioning for (the TV show) 'Jag.'"
Deanna Dunagan picked up the Tony for lead actress in a play for her
work in "August: Osage County." The drama marked her Broadway debut.
"This is so overwhelming," Dunagan said as she accepted her award.
"This whole year has been entirely unexpected and astonishing."
Mark Rylance won the prize for lead actor in a play for his
performance in the comedy, "Boeing-Boeing." The play marked his first
Broadway performance, as well.
