LONDON (UPI) -- Prince Harry, recently back in Britain from active
duty in Afghanistan, is now an army lieutenant.
The prince, performing regimental duties at the Windsor barracks, was
promoted from second lieutenant because he has completed two years in
the army, The Daily Telegraph reported Thursday.
The promotion also gave the prince a bump in salary, from roughly
$40,200 a year to $48,400. If he remains in the army, he could expect
a promotion to captain in three years, the British newspaper said.
Meanwhile, members of the royal family will meet at Windsor Castle
Saturday for the christening of the Earl and Countess of Wessex's
second child, James Alexander Philip Theo. The son of Prince Edward
and his wife Sophie is the eighth in line of succession, replacing his
sister, Lady Louise, who moved down to ninth, the newspaper said.
