CHICA, Ill. (UPI) -- The owner of a Chicago hot-dog stand has finally been allowed to post his "Felony Franks" sign, after two years of opposition by some city officials.

Jim Andrews, purveyor of the 'misdemeanor wiener" hires released prison inmates, WGN-TV, Chicago, reported. He wanted a sign to match.

The sign went up Thursday after Alderman Bob Fioretti and three other aldermen agreed to drop their objections. Fioretti argued the sign sent the wrong message to young people in the neighborhood.

"This is vigilante. They can't do that. We're in a great city. We have great laws. Our federal system works," Andrews said.

Andrews hopes for compensation for business lost during the legal fight, which went on for more than two years.
