RIVERSIDE, Calif. (UPI) -- A California man got back at a suspected package thief with a decoy box filled a stinky surprise from his Great Dane and her friends.

Riverside resident Mikey Zaremba's home security camera captured video of a man walking up to his front door Wednesday and stealing a package that the homeowner had filled with dog poop in the hopes of catching a local package thief brown-handed.

"At first I really felt violated even though I knew what was inside the package, I was still like, he stole from me!" Zaremba told CBS Los Angeles. Since we've lived at this house we've had three packages stolen, so just trying to get back at somebody.

The suspect could have avoided the stinky surprise if he had checked out Zaremba's Facebook.

"I'm expecting some packages from USPS and UPS... but there have been a lot of package thefts lately. So tomorrow I'm going to package up a box full of dog [poop] and leave it on my front porch. I'm going to have a camera rolling so if I catch the thief I can turn the footage into the news," he wrote Tuesday.

Zaremba said the box was filled with a variety of different dog turds.

"Our Great Dane had her first birthday so my wife threw her a birthday party. We had 7-8 dogs here," Zaremba said.

Riverside police said the alleged thief, Daniel Aldama, was arrested and is facing charges.

"[Aldama] dropped [the poop package] as soon as he found out. He didn't want nothing to do with it and kept on riding," Officer Ronel Newton said.
