CARRICKFERGUS, Northern Ireland (UPI) -- A rampaging goat recorded pounding on the glass door of a Northern Ireland store ran amok in the parking lot and head-butted an elderly man, a manager said.

Jonathan Smyth, manager of the Eurospar in Carrickfergus, said he was preparing to open early Saturday when he heard a loud noise at the glass doors.

"I was on my own in the store at around 6:20 a.m. and thought it was the bread man knocking," Smyth told the Carrickfergus Times. I looked up and there was a massive goat two foot up the door and it went nuts! It seemed to want to break into the shop and it was staring straight at me.

Smyth said the goat wasn't able to get into the store, so it settled for making trouble in the parking lot.

"It was into the baskets eating all the plants and running round the car park, I thought: 'you've got to be kidding me!'" Smyth said.

He said the goat also made trouble for customers and bystanders.

"We have a pensioner named Billy who shops here and it charged at him and I grabbed him and dragged him through the door just in time before the goat crashed into the door!" Smyth said. Billy was being attacked by a billy goat!

Smyth said an employee arriving for work ended up hiding out inside a car with an elderly woman. He said the goat got up on "its hind legs on the side of the car!"

The manager said a person, possibly the goat's owner, eventually dragged the animal off by the horns.

"It was great, it made my day," Smyth said of the goat's visit. When I saw it I burst into stitches.
