Cougar-seeking wildlife cams in Kansas snap bizarre creatures -- humans

GARDNER, Kan. (UPI) -- A Kansas police department set up wildlife cameras to photograph a suspected mountain lion and captured pictures of far more bizarre creatures: humans.

The Gardner Police Department said two trail cameras were set up in the area of Celebration Park after reports of a mountain lion prowling the area, and the cameras managed to take pictures of animals including a skunk and a coyote.

The strangest animals to show up in the pictures, however, were humans dressed in strange costumes including gorilla suits and a werewolf outfit.

The gorilla-costumed pranksters appeared to be crawling around and wrestling in front of the camera.

The pictures also included a person wearing a dog mask, someone in a camouflage ghillie suit, an apparent elderly woman with a walker and a sharp object, a man in a gas mask, and what appears to be the bottom half of someone in a Santa Claus costume.

"We would like to sincerely thank the persons responsible as it made our day when we pulled up what we expected to be hundreds of pictures of coyotes, foxes and raccoons. Thank you to the citizens who noticed the cameras. Your effort and sense of humor are greatly appreciated," the police department said.
