RAYMOND, N.H. (UPI) -- A New Hampshire grocery store announced it's donating its sizable commission for selling a $487 million Powerball ticket to charity.

The $487 million Powerball jackpot from the ticket sold in late July at the Hannaford Supermarket in Raymond has yet to be claimed by the purchaser, but the store is receiving a $75,000 commission for selling it.

Hannford said it's moving toward "generating a lot more winners" by adding $25,000 to the sum and divvying up the money among six charities.

"It's not every day that you sell a lottery ticket of almost half a billion dollars," Hannaford spokesman Eric Blom told the Boston Globe. When something like that happens, it causes you to reflect. And we know that there's an awful lot of need in the community and this is an opportunity for us to create some additional winners in the New Hampshire area.

The charities benefiting from the $100,000 were identified as End 68 Hours of Hunger, the Raymond Coalition for Youth, the SNHS Raymond Food Pantry, the Providence Baptist Church Food Pantry, the West Deerfield Township Food Pantry, and the Raymond Baptist Church Food Pantry.

The Raymond Coalition for Youth, which received a $30,000 donation, thanked Hannaford online.

"We are very grateful to Hannaford for their ongoing support and this very, very generous donation," executive director Celeste Clark wrote on the coalition's website.
