Bear goes for summer swim in California family's pool

ARCADIA, Calif. (UPI) -- A bear in California tried to escape the summer heat by taking a leisurely swim in a family's backyard pool.
Arcadia Police Department shared video of the trespassing bear as it swam in circles in the large pool on Thursday morning.
"One of our residents spotted this visitor in their pool for a morning swim," they wrote. Please do call us if you encounter wildlife in your yards or neighborhoods.
Police also shared a Facebook post encouraging residents to "Be Bear Aware!" of bears and other wildlife in the foothill community and shared tips for how to handle wild animal encounters.
"The majority of the time, the animals will venture off without trouble, but we like to keep tabs on their actions," police wrote.
