BOSTON (UPI) -- Boston Beer Company, owners of the Samuel Adams Brand of beer, sought to capitalize on Britain's decision to leave the European Union by filing a trademark for the term "Brexit."

According to Tantalizing Trademarks, Boston Beer Company filed an application with the Trademark office for "Brexit" under class 033 for hard cider.

Boston Beer Company also holds the trademark for the "Angry Orchard" line of hard ciders, and the Brexit trademark was filed under an intent-to-use basis.

Other "Brexit" trademarks were also filed by a Chicago man for a clothing company and Colorado company seeking to use the phrase for a line of dietary and nutritional supplements.
