MELBOURNE (UPI) -- Authorities in Australia said they are investigating a video of a young man "train surfing" by clinging to the outside of a train car while its in motion.

The video, which was purportedly found on an Instagram account, was filmed by a young man riding between the cars of a Melbourne commuter train.

A Melbourne Metro employee can be seen inside the car holding his own phone up while apparently taking video of train surfer.

The man jumps onto the platform when the train stops and the Metro worker is briefly seen shouting out from the train car's door.

"You're out for a smack in the mouth!" the driver says.

Metro spokeswoman Sammie Black said the video is being investigated.

"The railway is only dangerous for those who choose to take risks and train surfing is a stunt that risks lives or serious injury," Black told the Herald Sun newspaper. We are in the process of identifying the off duty driver who captured the footage of the train surfer and any evidence will be provided to our security and surveillance team and handed to Victoria Police.
