California police rescue seal found on highway

MONTEREY, Calif. (UPI) -- A California highway patrol officer rescued a lost seal that was discovered on a local highway.
CHP – Monterey shared a photo of the stranded seal and highway patrol Officer Alameda, who found the seal on Highway 1.
According to the Facebook post, Alameda and the seal had a rocky first encounter after he misinterpreted the animals affectionate bites.
"During their initial contact Officer Alameda mistook the seals signs of affection and gratefulness as hostile bites," they wrote. Officer Alameda and the seal made up and left each other on good terms.
Alameda ultimately managed to place the seal in his patrol car before transporting the animal to the Marine Mammal Center.
