Florida family shares saga of soot-covered squirrel in the house
Published in Weird News
LAKELAND, Fla. (UPI) -- A Florida family shared video of the time a squirrel stuck in their chimney got into the house and ran amok while trying to escape.
Jayme Knowles of Lakeland posted a video showing him and family members removing a nest from the fireplace before determining there is a creature, which they initially suspected to be a crow, trapped in the chimney.
Knowles reaches a pole up the chimney to shake the critter loose, and ends up running away screaming when the squatter -- a squirrel -- comes through the fireplace and into the home.
The man's screams turn to laughter and he chases the squirrel with a net while a young girl continues to scream off-camera.
The soot-covered squirrel makes its way to a window and ends up trapped between the closed glass and the blinds.
Knowles frees the squirrel from the blinds and returns to chasing the rodent with a net.
The squirrel darts past Knowles and out of the room, eventually going outside on its own.
