RIVERSIDE, Calif. (UPI) -- Animal services officers in California responded to a call of a long snake in a load of trash at a dump on Tuesday.

When Riverside County Animal Services Officer Christopher Peck responded to the call and discovered a dead 17-foot 7-inch albino Burmese python.

The owners of the dump said the snake was already dead when they discovered it.

"Although it would be hard to determine what caused the snake's death, it's very likely the snake died of natural causes and the pet owner illegally dumped it without detection," they wrote on Facebook.

The Riverside County Animal Services retrieved and disposed of the large snake's body.
