ROCHESTER, N.Y. (UPI) -- The National Toy Hall of Fame in Rochester, N.Y., announced candidates for 2015 induction include American Girl dolls and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

The Strong National Museum of Play announced the inductees to its National Toy Hall of Fame will be announced Nov. 5 and are being chosen by a national selection committee from a short list of 12 finalists.

The Hall of Fame typically inducts three toys each year, with last year's honors going to miniature green army men, the Rubik's Cube and bubbles.

The 2015 finalists are: American Girl dolls, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, spinning tops, Twister, Wiffle Ball, Battleship, puppets, Jenga, coloring books, Playmobil, Super Soaker and scooters.

The National Hall of Fame said the toys are judged based on icon status, longevity, discovery and innovation.
