GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (UPI) -- A Michigan news crew's interview with a gas station owner was interrupted by a car collision caught on camera in the background.

The WXMI-TV crew was interviewing Vik Singh, owner of a BP gas station in Grand Rapids, about 4:30 p.m. Monday when a silver car smashed into the back of a red car stopped at an intersection in the background of the shot.

The crash, which did not cause any major injuries, elicited a laugh from Singh and an incredulous member of the news team can be heard saying, "And we just caught a car accident on camera."

Singh was being interviewed about police setting up a mobile command center at a Chicken Coop restaurant across the street from his gas station. There have been numerous violent incidents in the area around the late-night eatery, most recently a shooting death in the parking lot Sunday.

Police were on the scene Monday investigating the incident, so it did not take long for officers to respond to the crash site, WXMI-TV reported.
