MANCHESTER, N.H. (UPI) -- A New Hampshire restaurant offering birthday discounts using the patron's age as a percentage had to pay out 7 cents to a 101-year-old man.

Workers at the Belmont Restaurant in Manchester said the eatery's policy is to give birthday diners a discount using their birthday as a percentage off, so Joseph Nelson, 101, ended up being paid $0.07 to eat his birthday breakfast of scrambled eggs, ham and a piece of chocolate cake.

Nelson said he credits his faith with keeping him healthy.

"I put all my faith in God and I think that all of my life, every decision I've made in my 100 years, I think God made it for me," he told WMUR-TV.
