HYANNIS, Mass. (UPI) -- Workers in Hyannis, Mass., received a helping of holiday cheer on Saturday when a man walked around to local businesses handing out $100 bills.

Marylou's manager Victoria Grandy told The Cape Cod Times that a mysterious stranger walked into the coffee shop and handed someone 15 envelopes stuffed with $100 bills, one for each worker.

"Merry Christmas," read the envelopes.

Brittany Coy, an employee at Marylou's, told CBS Boston that the generous stranger resembled St. Nick.

"He just came in wearing a cowboy hat, kind of looked like Santa Claus, the beard," Coy said.

"I literally had a girl almost break down in tears in how much excitement, because she really needed a hundred dollars," she added.

"Santa," who has handed out money for several years, visited several other establishments around Hyannis, including Dunkin' Donuts and Burger King.

Dunkin' Donuts manager Kelly Hayden said he denied a free cup of coffee.

"It's the season of giving," he reportedly said.
