PORTLAND, Ore. (UPI) -- Portland police proved they are dedicated to community service Sept. 1 when they delivered a pizza after the Pizza Hut delivery man was injured in a car accident.

Steve Huckins was comically surprised when he opened the door to Officers Filbert and Curtiss holding a Hawaiian pizza. He said after asking how he was was, he asked the officers for a photograph to prove his story. The Portland Police Department posted the photo to its Twitter account and it has since gone viral, reports KPTV.

"They turn around to leave and I said, 'Hang on, I've got to a get a picture of this. Nobody will believe Portland police delivering a pizza. Nobody,'" said Huckins.

The restaurant had delivered another pizza at half-price before the officers arrived, so Huckins ended up with two pizzas.

Huckins said he wanted the officers to be recognized for going "above and beyond."
