EUGENE, Ore. (UPI) -- Police in Oregon said a man wanted for armed bank robbery in New York state was arrested when he surfaced to play in an ultimate frisbee tournament.

Eugene police said Jahson Marryshow, 31, who allegedly stole a car and burned down a barn while fleeing police following an armed bank robbery in Ulster County in 2010, was found to be living in Eugene and working as a landscaper using his real name.

The Eugene Police Department Street Crimes Team and the US Marshal's Service teamed up for the operation and decided to arrested Marryshow at an ultimate frisbee tournament he was scheduled to participate in Sunday.

"We decided to do it there (because) we knew if he was playing in the game he would very likely unarmed, as so we decided it would be the safest avenue," Sgt. Wayne Dorman with the Eugene Police Street Crimes Team told KVAL-TV, Eugene.

"He took a step, like he was initially going to run. But I think he saw how many people were there and he gave up," Dorman said.

Police said Marryshow was being held at the Lane County Jail as a fugitive from police.
