NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (UPI) -- A Nebraska diner who felt guilty for absconding with an extra piece of KFC chicken sent the restaurant owner a handwritten apology letter and $2.

Rocky Rasmussen, the owner of a North Platte KFC, got the unsigned letter in the mail.

"This $2 is for the piece of chicken I brought home with me on Tuesday," the letter read. That's stealing. Sorry!

The conscience of the chicken connoisseur kicked in after he or she claimed an extra poultry piece from the buffet at the restaurant.

"I took more on my plate than I could eat and I knew it would get thrown away there because it couldn't get put back on the buffet, so I put it in my purse and brought it home," the letter read. I do love your chicken!

Taking food from the buffet home is prohibited, but it does happen. This is the first time that someone has admitted, let alone apologized for, taking extra food.

"It just makes your faith in people come back a little more," Rasmussen told the North Platte Telegraph. Whoever it was probably doesn't have a lot of money. I really wish I knew who it was. I would buy them a few meals.
