DANVILLE, Ky. (UPI) -- Kentucky's Centre College said a portrait of former U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice Fred Vinson will attend Thursday night's vice presidential debate.

Phi Delta Theta fraternity members said the portrait of the Centre alum, who was appointed to the Supreme Court by President Harry Truman, has never missed a Centre College home football game, so they decided to bring "Dead Fred" to the college's auditorium to witness Thursday night's debate between Vice President Joe Biden and challenger Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., WLEX-TV, Lexington, Ky., reported Thursday.

"Having Dead Fred on the sidelines here just reminds you that every day you go out and get that support, and you're just doing everything for the alumni," Centre senior Oakley Watson said.
