AKRON, Ohio (UPI) -- A rod bearing the word "Kaboom" sparked the evacuation of an Ohio city hall, but turned out to be a walking stick belonging to a man with the last name Kaboom.

Akron, Ohio, officials said City Hall was evacuated briefly Wednesday when an aluminum rod bearing the word "Kaboom" and other writing was discovered on the third floor of the building, the Akron Beacon Journal reported Friday.

However, the item was soon discovered to an expandable shower rod used as a walking stick by Natural Hunka Kaboom, 65, a regular attendee at City Council meetings.

Kaboom, who changed his name from James Louis Krosner in 2009 as a means of promoting his pest control business, said he is planning to run for City Council next year.

"I guess this is a way to get my name out there," he said.
