Continuing with Bobby Fischer’s choices for chess puzzles in his old Boys’ Life columns, here’s one you might not have expected to appear. It’s a Helpmate in Two. Black moves first and helps White mate in two moves.


Solution:

I was stunned that six Boy Scouts actually got it. 1…Rd5 2.Rb2 Ke5 3.Re2 mate. Two moves on each side. A clever conspiracy!
