This is a very practical study by Troitzki. The solution is a bit counterintuitive.

Solution:

As chessplayers, we are so conditioned to try and queen our pawn first, we sometimes forget it may be OK to queen second. 1.g7 e1=Q 2.g8-Q Kb7 [No queen check avoids mate. 2...Qa5+ 3.Kd7+ Kb7 4.Qc8#]3.Qb3+ Kc6 4.Qb6+ Kd5 5.Qb5 Qe6 [5...Qe4 6.Qb7+]6.Qb3+ and the queen is lost.
