This is an old favorite, Nimzowitsch-Alapin, 1912, that teaches an excellent lesson to students of chess.


- Solution: The fun starts with a clearance move: 1.Bf6 Qh6 [Taking the bishop doesn’t help:1...Qxf6 2.Bxc6+ bxc6 3.Rhe1+ Be7 4.Qd8# although this attempt to pin the White queen only lasts one more move.] 2.Bxc6+ bxc6 3.f4 Be6 4.Qd8+ Rxd8 5.Rxd8#
