White to Play
Published in Chess Puzzles
I’m going to do some old favorites of mine. This one by Sam Loyd is a fun one to drive chess students nutty. It’s a mate in three. AND, it’s easy to remember, so you can try it on others.
Solution:
If you didn’t get this, it’s because you forgot one simple possibility. 1.Rf4 Kxg3 [1...Kxh1 2.Kf2 Kh2 3.Rh4#] 2.0–0 Kh3 3.R1f3#
