Both are against God's laws. The only reason many churches condone either is because they have fallen into apostasy. Also, I could care less what these liberated idiots think. I believe my Bible.

rebuttal 1

1) Miscegenation laws were enacted in South Africa, the US, and Nazi Germany. In America, they apploed in some states to Native Americans and Asians as well as blacks. Also, in America, the argument for them was based on biblical interpretation regarding their morality, just as the gay marriage issue is now. Morality is a philosophical abstract, "common opinion" has less to do with eternal verities than with time and place, and to claim absolutes as far as "NEVER" is akin to weaving baskets from clouds when dealing with the human condition. Race mixing laws were only struck down by the Supreme Court 51 years ago, and laws relating to them are still on the books in some states (witness this weeks Massachusetts law regarding out of staters not being able to wed if the marriage was illegal in their home state [1913 to prevent mixed race marriage] just now being repealed.) Our government STILL supported South Africa and THEIR laws well after our own were shut down. As far as separate bathrooms for men and women, take a trip to Europe, their morals on this issue as well do not match ours.

Opposition

The key word in this whole arguement is "opposition." According to my way of thinking, if you're opposed to a given activity, then you shouldn't engage in that activity. You should NOT stick your nose into other people's business and try to prevent them from doing something that has no effect on you! As it happens, I'm a man, married to a girl I first kissed back in 1963 when we were twelve years old. It suits us both. However, if a fella down the street or even next door wants to marry another fella, (or if a lady wants to marry another lady) I fail to see how that has any effect whatever on our marriage. As "Texas" Bill Bender said, "Don't interfere with somethin' that ain't botherin' you none!" I say, if somebody else's behavior bothers you, get busy with your own affairs and leave other folks alone!

same sex marriage

The question is not whether we should allow men to marry men or women to wed one another as well. In my mind the question is one of freedom, or more specifically, how much freedom are we willing to surrender. We cannot dictate to our fellow Americans who they can or cannot fall in love with. Any thinking person must except this as fact.
In this country you are guarranteed life, libery, and the pursuit of happiness. This should include the right to marry the person who you believe that you will forsake all others for, the person who you want to live the rest of your life with.
Perhaps I am over simplifying a complex social issue. Sobeit, Every American ought to enjoy the same rights reguardless of lifestyle or sexual orientation.

The solution to same sex marraige is simple, the right wing extremists (read Taliban West) say that marraige is the union of a man and a woman before God (not a God as in Jehovah, Jaweh, Allah, Buddah or whatever) so it is a religous thing. Ergo: the government has no business at all being involved in it. Let the churches have thier weddings and keep track of who is married to whom. The Government then would not offer tax breaks to married couples as this would be religous discrimination. If the government desires they could offer a civil union to any who would desire to enter into a long term contract and give tax breaks to those who do, equally, without regrad to race religion or sexual preference.
