White has Black pinned down with that pawn on the 7th rank. How does White take advantage of the situation?

Solution:

It’s important to recognize it as a back rank mating possibility as the king’s three pawns provide no escape from a decisive check on the back rank: 1.Qb8 Rxb8 [Black could briefly hold out with 1...Qa4 2.Qxe8+ Qxe8 3.Rxd4 f6 4.Rd8 Kf7 5.Rxe8 Kxe8, but the White king just walks down, protects the pawn and the rook can deliver mate.]2.e8=Q+ Rxe8 3.Rxe8#
