OK, you’ve been “warmed up” to look for queen sacrifices, but this one is definitely a challenge. Don’t be too eager to give the lady away. Perhaps you should just tantalize Black!


Solution:

Karasev-Lyogky reached this position in 1978. The finish was quite spectacular, and the first queen move was, indeed, tantalizing for Black: 1.Qh6 gxh6 [To be honest with you, I wish the game had taken this stunning course: 1...f5 2.gxf6 Ra7 3.Ne7+ Rxe7 4.Rxg7+ Rxg7 5.Rxd8+ Kf7 6.Qxg7#] 2.gxh6+ Kf8 3.Bg7+ Kg8 4.Bf6+ Kf8 5.Rdg3 and Black Resigned as mate on g8 isn’t stoppable.
