For anyone not an American the term gas means exactly that. It does not mean petrol. Gas powered vehicles are LPG and similar, in other wordsliquid petroleum gas or other types of compressed gas like butane or methane. This slovenly misuse of English causes confusion when discussing technical subjects and while we are on the subject, I realise that the USA is somewhat backward but is it not time that they started using SI units, Standard International and abandoned cups and other archaic measures, perhaps even going all the way and changing to metric, like Britain did.
