Researcher proposes trash pyramids
Trash pyramids would help reduce the world's stored waste as well as create tourist attractions and significant landmarks, Roelof Schuiling of Geochem Research BV wrote in the latest issue of the International Journal of Global Environmental Issues.
"These pyramids, erected in prominent places, could serve as a tourist attraction and become a source of income rather than a continuing financial burden," Schuiling said.
Schuiling said the pyramids would be easier to contain than underground deposits used now for dumping toxic waste, Inderscience Publishers reported.
Schuiling also suggested the trash concrete could be used to build offices and homes.
