Granollers ousted from Stockholm Open

STOCKHOLM, Sweden (UPI) -- Marcel Granollers, unable to overcome his poor serve, was an upset victim in first-round action at the $980,000 Stockholm Open in Sweden.

Granollers, who was seeded eighth, managed to get in just 38 percent of his first serves in the course of a 2-6, 6-4, 6-2 loss to wild-card entrant Kei Nishikori. With his serve abandoning him, Granollers had his service games broken three times in the decisive set.

Also Monday, Dominik Hrbaty dispatched Pablo Andujar 6-2, 6-1 in 50 minutes and Nicolas Lapentti rallied for a 3-6, 7-6 (9-7), 7-5 win over Ivan Navarro in the first round of the hard-court tournament.

David Nalbandian takes the No. 1 seeding into the tournament, which is worth $155,000 to the winner. Ivo Karlovic won the 2007 Stockholm Open but it not in the 2008 field.
