MLB: Colorado 5, Houston 3

DENVER (UPI) -- A home run by Clint Barmes helped Colorado build a five-run lead Friday and the Rockies held on to defeat Houston 5-3.

The Astros had an eight-game winning streak snapped.

Brad Hawpe scored twice and drove in a run for the Rockies, who won for the third time in four games.

Hawpe touched off a three-run fourth with an RBI single and Barmes' homer came during a two-run fifth.

Ubaldo Jimenez (10-12) survived six innings to get the win, allowing three runs on five hits with six strikeouts.

Brian Fuentes pitched a 1-2-3 ninth for his 27th save.

Brian Moehler (10-6) allowed all five runs in 4 2/3 innings to take the loss.

After struggling early in the season, Houston has posted a 32-16 record since July 11.
