New NBA team to be called the Thunder
The announcement, however, was not a huge surprise since other teams in the league had been advertising games against the Thunder as part of their pre-season, ticket-selling campaigns.
The team moved to Oklahoma City from Seattle. As part of an out-of-court settlement that eased the way for the franchise move, the nickname and color scheme of the old team were retained by the city of Seattle as part of its bid to encourage the NBA to create an expansion team.
Oklahoma City's colors will be blue, yellow and orange.
