Bryans near U.S. Open doubles crown
The 30-year-old Bryans, long-time doubles partners and this event's No. 2 seeds, doused the Spaniard Robredo and Argentina's Roitman by scores of 6-2 6-1.
They will bid for the Open doubles crown Friday against the duo of Czech Lukas Dlouhy and India's Leander Paes, the seventh seeds.
Dlouhy-Paes trounced the unseeded Argentine team of Maximo Gonzalez and Juan Monaco 6-2, 6-0.
"It's one of the fastest matches I have ever played," Paes said after he and Dlouhy won their match in 46 minutes. "It's exactly what the doctor ordered because they packed the schedule in and made me play twice yesterday and made me come back in early today."
The Bryans captured this event in 2005 and were the runners-up in 2003.
Paes, 35, won the doubles final in 1999.
