MLB: LA Angels 7, Texas 5
The Rangers took a 5-2 lead into the eighth, when the Angels sent 11 men to the plate against three Texas pitchers. Los Angeles loaded the bases with one out and Mike Napoli walked to force in a run.
Warner Madrigal then relieved Jamey Wright and got an out before Rivera pinch-hit for Sean Rodriguez. Rivera's double to center on a 1-0 pitch cleared the bases and put the Angels in front.
Rivera moved to third on a base hit by Chone Figgins and Robb Quinlan came on to run for Rivera. An infield single by Reggie Willits delivered Quinlan with the fifth run of the inning.
Los Angeles starter Jon Garland (11-8) survived eight innings to get the win. He allowed five runs on eight hits. Francisco Rodriguez worked the ninth for his 51st save.
Wright (6-6) took the loss.
Texas scored four times in the first, three of the runs coming on a homer by Milton Bradley.
