Seahawks Pro-Bowl LB pleads guilty to DUI

SEATTLE (UPI) -- Seattle Seahawks linebacker Lofa Tatupu pleaded guilty Monday to driving under the influence.

The Seattle Times reported Tatupu, 25, was sentenced to one day in jail and ordered to pay fines and court costs of $1,255. The newspaper said Tatupu pled not guilty while his case was being investigated, but changed his plea to guilty Monday.

Tatupu was arrested in Kirkland, Wash., May 10 after a police officer observed his car driving in excess of 50 mph in a 35 mph zone.

The newspaper said Tatupu submitted to field-sobriety tests, but declined to take a portable Breathalyzer. He was arrested, handcuffed without incident and taken to the police station.

His blood-alcohol concentration was measured at 0.155 and 0.158, nearly double the legal limit of 0.08.

Tatupu has played three seasons in Seattle and been chosen for the Pro Bowl each time.
