Populist set the pace through much of Saturday's $55,000 St. Georges Stakes for 3-year-old fillies and held well at the end to win by 1 3/4 lengths over My Main Starr. Fareena was third. Populist, a Kentucky-bred daughter of Fusaichi Pegasus, got the 1 1/16 miles on a fast track in 1:45.16 with Travis Dunkelberger in the irons.
