Leonides stalked the pace in Sunday's $75,000 Captain Squire Handicap for 3-year-olds, came to challenge in the stretch, exchanged bumps with White Spar down the lane and prevailed by a neck over that rival. The early leader, Sea of Pleasure, held on for third. Leonides, a Kentucky-bred Richter Scale colt, ran the 6 1/2 furlongs on the all-weather track in 1:15.81.
