Essenceofthemoon finished third and the odds-on favorite, Mr Mistoffelees got home last after stumbling badly out of the gate. Dagnabit, a New York-bred son of Freud, got the 5 1/2 furlongs in 1:06.68. Cornelio Velasquez rode for trainer Richard Dutrow Jr. "It wasn't that much of a surprise because he ran well the first time out," said Dutrow assistant Michelle Nevin. "And he's been training well up to this point. I don't know what's next for him."
