McCain meets with the Rev. Billy Graham

Presumptive Republican presidential nominee John McCain met Sunday with evangelists Franklin Graham and Billy Graham at the request of the Arizona senator.

The closed-door meeting at the Rev. Billy Graham's home in Montreat, N.C., lasted for about 45 minutes, Franklin Graham said in a statement.

Franklin Graham, who serves as president and chief executive officer of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and Samaritan's Purse international relief, said he and his father were "pleased" to meet with McCain.

"Sen. McCain's office had requested a meeting in recent months and we appreciate the effort he made to travel to my father's home," Franklin Graham said. "I was impressed by his personal faith and his moral clarity on important social issues facing America today."

The younger Graham said he is not endorsing a candidate for president.

"While as a Christian minister I am not endorsing a candidate for president, I do endorse the responsibility of men and women of faith everywhere to vote and to be involved in the political process," he said.

Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., is the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee.

The truth will set us free?

MJT, I am at a loss as to what you term the truth. Like another commentor, this is not a story about Obama, it is a story about a news-op by a Republican candidate for president.

Many U.S. presidents have claimed a 'relationship' with Billy Graham. But never has he (or the Billy Graham Evangelical Association) ever endorsed someone before the election. Mr. Graham has conversed with elected presidents and visited the White House on numerous occasions. How does this translate into truth about Barack Obama?

Obama??

How did Obamanation get into this story? This story is about McCain and the Rev. Billy Graham's meeting? At least he is man enough to meet with the Rev. and they said he has personal faith and moral clarity. That's good evough for me!

I've realized, as one ages..passions and patriotism becomes more established, and glitter and charisma ends up frustrating everyone . A true patriot will keep going until the last breath. I've questioned Mr. McCain's spiritual state, but I've not doubted his patriotism nor his political capabilities. Mr. Obama's lacks true experience. When I first became a mother, I read the best how to raise your children manuals which were usually written by a childless author who had more than enough time to think up all the ideals. I ended up getting practical advice from frazzled working moms who survived a scenarios similar to my own. Now with my own children raised, I am an unique collection of what worked and what didn't.

Bridget's 'Mrs Obama'

Actually, from what she has written and said, Mrs. Obama is more 'radical and dangerous' than Mr Obama........ unless, of course, she's had an 'extreme makeover'------?
