Kashmir back to normal after protests

Indian officials say businesses and schools were open again Wednesday in the Kashmir valley after religious protests had raged for nine days.

The riots, pitting Hindu and Muslim religious adherents, were sparked by a decision by the state government of Jammu and Kashmir to allot forest land to the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board, a Hindu group that organizes an annual pilgrimage to the high-altitude Amarnath shrine dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva, the Indo-Asian News Service reported.

The government rescinded its decision Tuesday, easing tensions that injured 70 people.

The Amarnath pilgrims were able to cover the 52 miles between the shrine and the city of Srinagar safely, while schools, markets, government offices and banks had reopened as usual in the Kashmir valley, officials said.

The only sign of trouble were continuing counter-protests by Hindus decrying the decision to rescind the land allotment to the shrine board. Those protesters had blocked the Jammu-Srinagar highway, the news service reported.

rejection of ruling

hatever the gov't decides should be respected.Besides, is there injustice with their decision? Why should pride, envy, greed, or selfishness reign in their hearts toward their brethren, who stand in need?Life should be easier for all of us, because God has created this world so abundantly, and beautufully!Let's get serious, brethren, before ot's too late. The God who made us will come soon to judge us.Let's obey His laws of love, so we can move to the next world He resaerved for those who will pass His test!Test of LOVE!Check out your bible!Amen!
