Obama's health plan may change directions

WASHINGTON (UPI) -- Likely U.S. Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama's health plan may become more like that of former rival Hillary Clinton, an adviser's remarks suggest.

"Sen. Obama is willing to consider any sort of proposal that would bring together, not just the insurance industry but ... the consumers themselves," Obama adviser Dr. Kavita Patel said.

Patel's remarks came Wednesday as she was speaking at a National Journal health-policy forum, ABC reported.

Insurers have voiced concerns that Obama has failed to link an individual mandate to "guaranteed issue."

"Guaranteed issue" is a term used in the insurance industry in reference to requiring people to have coverage regardless of pre-existing medical conditions.

"We've had the conversation about ... guaranteed issue. But we are prepared to have that conversation in the insurance industry if the politicians are ready to stand up and say we are going to get everyone in," America's Health Insurance Plans President Karen Ignagni said.

pay now pay later..you still pay

The simple fact is we already pay for everyone who is not insured and at ridiculous rates. people who have no insurance and little money can't afford to go to a doctor. Instead they go to a hospital so a simple urinary tract infection, which would cost around $200 for everything if you have insurance or money and went to a doctor costs $3500 at the hospital then all the taxpayers pay the hospital. It is cheaper to cover everyone. If you have money then buy supplemental insurance so you can have better care.

The ONLY thing Obama's interested in doing concerning the economy is raising taxes. Check it out. It's his answer for everything.

It least, the way things are now, we still have some choices left. If Obama gets the power, we won't even have those.

I figured that that was one of the things Clinton negociated before her concession. This has been her passion for 15 yrs.
