Sex slave had passed up police help
Special Agent Cynthia Dockery described at a federal court hearing Monday how at one point someone called police with concerns about the welfare of the 18-year-old developmentally disabled woman, identified only as "Jane Doe." But Dockery said suspect Waquita "Goddess" Wallace both assured officers the woman was a relative and nothing was wrong, and had threatened Doe "to keep her mouth shut," the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported Tuesday.
After the police left Doe endured more abuse until her sister found out about the situation and rescued her June 29, court documents show. Allegedly she had been handed off to Wallace, 33, approximately one month before to pay off a $3,300 debt of Doe's cousin.
In addition to Wallace, Richard Marquis Harper, 20, and a women known as "April" have been arrested and charged with sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion, and with sale into involuntary servitude.
