A casement window air conditioner is designed to fit narrow windows
that swing outwards when you use a lever to crank them open, or
sliding windows which are similar to huge glass windows that slide
from either side. Casement window air conditioner units are self
contained units which basically means that they are comprised of all
the necessary mechanics that are needed for them to operate. When you
buy a casement window air conditioner there is no hassle of
installation all you do secure your unit into your casement window
plug it in and you are all set to go.
Casement window air conditioner units are only able to cool one room at a time, but when purchasing this type of air conditioner unit you must be sure and choose one that will be able to cool the size of the room you are installing it in. If the unit is too big for the room it will cool the room too quickly and causing the room to feel damp as it will not be able to effectively remove the excess humidity from the room. Also too big a casement window air conditioner will cool the room too fast causing the air conditioner to keep switching on and off and using up unnecessary energy, resulting it costing much more to run the air conditioner.
If the casement window air conditioner unit is too small all it will end up doing is running continuously without turning off and will not be able to cool the room sufficiently. To get a positive idea of the exact size casement window air conditioner that will be suitable for your room you will have to measure the room as well as the window to be sure that when you finally bring home your casement window air conditioner unit that it will be able to fit your casement window.
The advantages of a window air conditioner is that it is not very expensive and it does not need any additional electrical wiring and is quite easy to install. Also if you have central air conditioner in your house and require some extra cooling support a casement window air conditioner would be the ideal choice for the job. The downside to these casement window air conditioner units is that although they are very reasonably priced you will not be able to cool an entire house with these types of units, as you will have to buy one for each room in the house and now that would be a bit on the expensive side.

This is interesting. However, I do not have any problem with the weather here in Kentucky. It is not that warm here for me to get an air conditioning unit for my apartment and I spend most of my time at work anyway. I am usually home at night and it is actually cool here even during summer time.

A reasonably good translation from the Asian language in which it was written, but incomplete-no reference to awning or hopper type casement windows-awning casements are hinged at the top and push or crank out, hopper types are hinged at the bottom. I have been unable to find window units that are narrow enough [inside face to outside face dimension] to fit wihin the awnings, hopper type require removal of the window and use of conventional window air conditioner.
