Letterman fumes over McCain cancellation

NEW YORK (UPI) -- David Letterman said he was disappointed Sen. John McCain backed out of an appearance on his show apparently so he could be interviewed by Katie Couric.

The Republican U.S. presidential candidate, who Letterman described as a "real American hero," was scheduled to drop by "The Late Show with David Letterman" Wednesday.

But Letterman said McCain personally called him shortly before the episode was to be taped and canceled his appearance, telling Letterman he was "racing back to Washington" to help out with the country's economic crisis.

However, Letterman said he discovered during the show McCain was, in fact, not heading to the airport, but instead sitting down for an interview with Couric for CBS News.

Letterman then broadcast the live feed of the interview on his show, talking over it and saying things like, "Need a ride to the airport?"

"This is not the John McCain I know. ... It's like we caught him getting a manicure," Letterman said, later adding, "We're told the senator has concluded his interview with Katie Couric and is now on Rachel Ray's show making veal piccata."

Well, old Dave needs to remember that he is JUST a talk show host. Personally, I wouldn't have John McSame on anyway.

Letterman thinks he's the best talk show there is.
Sorry to say he's not. How many people cancel on him. He has people on standby for this situation.
So get over it. I don't like him and i don't watch
him.

I am now a fan of David Letterman. He needed to show America the way a politician lies to the public for his own gain and of course since he cancelled his spot on the Letterman's show because of McCain racing back to Washington was a lie he was caught in. I hope the public gets it and realizes he was not out to keep Country First but his Campaign First. Good job Dave Letterman now I will watch your show after Jay Lenno goes off the air on the Tonight Show and in the meantime, I will tape it. Good job DIGG IT!!!
