Recipe -- Cookie Dough Pie

FoodReference.com
Take 1 lemon, 1 cupful of seeded raisins chopped and mixed with the lemon, 1 cupful of sugar, 2 cupfuls of water, and 2 tablespoonfuls of cornstarch. Boil until clear. Dough part: 1/2 cupful of sugar, lump of butter size of a walnut, 4 tablespoonfuls of sweet milk, 2 teaspoonfuls of baking powder, 1 egg, and flour enough to make it as thick as cookie dough. This will make 2 pies. Spread out on plates with spoon: bake in a quick oven. When cold, have the boiled part well cooled and spread on top of the cookie.

Old recipes....Renewed

Try the whole lemon, cut up, first, if too bitter or sour, use only some zest (or not) and the pulp next time. A lot of cooks from long ago never had measuring spoons or cups and just eyeball'ed everything. If you cook enough, you develope a "feel" for how much is the right amount of ingredient, tasting proves it, and those who eat it will confirm it. I appreciate seeing these old recipes, having the opportunity to collect them, and the pleasure of working them out!
P.S. Instructions WERE provided.
P.P.S. I would like to see dates and names when possible.
