The Miniature Pinscher or "Min Pin" is a toy breed of dog first bred
to hunt vermin, especially rats. Although it has an appearance similar
to the Doberman Pinscher, the Min Pin is not a "Miniature Doberman" as
the it is much older than Doberman's breed. However, Both the Min Pin
and Doberman share common ancestors including the Italian Greyhound,
the Dachshund, or the Manchester Terrier.
Typically, the Min Pin stands between 10 and 12.5 inches at the
withers, weighing between 9 to 13 pounds. The coat is short and
smooth, with colors of red, stag-red, fawn, and black or chocolate
with tan markings.Min Pins are usually energetic and curious making
good watchdogs who respond vigorously to the unfamiliar around the
home.
